After a six year hiatus, Babylon A.D. are back and kicking
some serious ass with their first live disc. Featuring ten Babylon
A.D. classic tracks and two covers, Live... shows that the boys haven't lost
the energy of their previous works. Recorded at various U.S. gigs, the disc
kicks off with the energy packed hit, "Bang Go The Bells". Taken from
their Milwaukee show, is an emotional rendition of the band's crafty ballad,
"So Savage The Heart", off the Nothing Sacred cd. The second ballad on
here, "Desperate" (from the self-titled debut) is a bluesey, electric ballad
where you can feel the energy of the show. One of the few suprises on
Live, is an impressive soundcheck version of the moody, acoustic "Down The
River of No Return"...sounds too flawless to be a soundcheck to me!
One of my favorites, from Nothing Sacred, is the heavy, ripping rocker "Bad Blood",
which the band cranks out at a Salt Lake City show. Other highlights include
tight, modified versions of classic rock faves, AC/DC's "Girl's Got Rhythm"
and Aerosmith's "Rats In The Cellar". Bottom line: Live In Your Face is
a great re-introduction to the band and a fitting prelude to their new
studio album due out in late '99.
